Assam Police Hands Over Bomb Threat Investigation to NIA
The Assam Police will transfer the investigation of recent bomb threats by ULFA-I in Guwahati and Lakhimpur to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Four suspects have been arrested, including one involved in planting a bomb-like object. The Director General of Police, GP Singh, emphasized the state’s commitment to combating terrorism and maintaining peace. The police had previously offered a reward for information following the threats, and one suspect linked to ULFA-I was arrested. A bomb scare at a Guwahati mall was later deemed a hoax. Investigations are ongoing.
