Assam Police Warn Against Sharing Identity of Minor Suspect in Teacher’s Murder Case
Following the shocking murder of a teacher by a student, Assam Police urged citizens on Sunday not to share photographs of the minor suspect on social media. This appeal came after some people circulated images of the student, revealing his identity. The police warned of legal action under Section 74 of the Juvenile Justice Act, which can result in imprisonment up to six months, a fine up to Rs 2 lakh, or both. Child activist Miguel Das Queah also emphasized the illegality of sharing such information, noting that it violates the Juvenile Justice Act and could lead to FIRs. The incident, involving the stabbing of a coaching institute principal by a class 11 student in Sivasagar district, has left the community in shock.
