Assam Political Face-off Intensifies Over SIT Report

A political confrontation has intensified in Assam after Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made public an SIT report, prompting a strong counter-attack from APCC president Gaurav Gogoi. Gogoi alleged that the CM’s press conference was politically motivated and meant to divert attention from alleged land issues linked to Sarma’s family.
Questioning the six-month delay in disclosing the report, Gogoi said no concrete evidence was presented against him. He clarified his and his wife’s visits to Pakistan, stating all travel was informed to authorities and documents were submitted. Gogoi also accused the CM of dragging his minor children into politics and claimed the SIT report was used to distract from Congress’ allegations over land dealings involving the Chief Minister.
