Assam Political Storm Over CM’s Allegations Against Gaurav Gogoi
A political row has erupted in Assam after Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma accused Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi of having “Pakistan links.” Opposition leaders questioned the claims, asking why no legal action has been taken if the allegations are serious. Raijor Dal chief Akhil Gogoi and AJP president Lurinjyoti Gogoi accused the CM of politicising the issue and misusing the police.
The BJP hit back, demanding an apology from Gaurav Gogoi and launched statewide protests, calling for a central investigation. Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal termed the allegations grave and said Gogoi must prove his innocence. The Congress has not issued a detailed response so far, as tensions continue to rise following the CM’s lengthy press conference citing SIT findings.
