Assam Relieves Additional Public Prosecutor in High-Profile Scam Case

Additional Public Prosecutor Bidyut Bikash Gogoi was relieved of his duties after Jinki Mili, sister-in-law of scam accused Sumi Borah, secured bail. The dismissal was formalized in a September 18 order. Two assistants, Brajen Kumar Das and Arup Kumar Deka, were also dismissed for their involvement. Gogoi’s alleged mishandling of the case contributed to Mili’s bail.

Meanwhile, Dibrugarh police have sought an additional week of remand for Bishal Phukan, the prime accused in the investment scam, with a decision expected on September 19.
