Assam Renames DCPOs as Child Marriage Prohibition Officers

The Assam government has redesignated all District Child Protection Officers (DCPOs) as Child Marriage Prohibition Officers (CMPOs). As per a notification issued by the Women and Child Development Department, CMPOs will now enforce the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006, and related state rules. They will also file FIRs under relevant child protection laws. The move aims to strengthen efforts against child marriage across the state.
