Assam Reports 121 Rape Cases in First Two Months of 2025

Assam recorded 121 rape cases in the first two months of 2025, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma informed the Assembly. The state saw 1,019 cases in 2024 and over 40,000 since 2021. From January to February 2025, Assam also reported 1,022 robberies, 102 murders, and 386 kidnappings. A fresh rape case was filed in Guwahati, with two accused arrested. Sarma emphasized fast-track courts and stricter legal measures to ensure justice for victims.
