Assam Rifles Seizes ₹2.52 Crore Worth Foreign Cigarettes in Mizoram

AIZAWL: Assam Rifles seized 105 cases of illegal foreign-origin cigarettes worth around ₹2.52 crore during an anti-smuggling operation at Tuipui in Mizoram’s Champhai district on August 22. The operation was conducted in coordination with the Legal Metrology Department, Champhai, following intelligence inputs.

The seized consignment included Mond, V and ORIS Silver cigarettes. A Tata Sumo Gold vehicle was also seized, while one individual was apprehended. The cigarettes, vehicle and the apprehended person were handed over to the Legal Metrology Department, Champhai, for further investigation and legal action.
