Assam STF Wins National Honour for Busting Multi-State Jihadi Network

Assam Police’s Special Task Force has received the Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak 2025 for its counter-terror Operation Praghat, which dismantled a jihadi network operating across Assam, West Bengal, and Kerala. Led by IGP Dr. Partha Sarathi Mahanta, the STF arrested eight suspects, including a Bangladeshi national linked to the banned Ansarullah Bangla Team. The module aimed to recruit youth, acquire arms, and target members of Hindu organisations. Several STF and Assam Police officers were also recognised for exemplary service under different categories.
