Assam TET Qualified Teachers to Stage Sit-In Protest at DEE Office on November 12

The All Assam Primary TET Qualified Teachers’ Association has announced that it will hold a gherao (peaceful sit-in protest) at the office of the Director of Elementary Education (DEE) on November 12, demanding pay protection and regularization of their jobs.

The Association said it had earlier informed the Education Department about the planned protest but received no response from the government. “This silence shows the government’s disregard for teachers’ genuine grievances,” the group stated.

Association president Trailokya Deka accused the government of showing an “undemocratic attitude” by ignoring teachers’ rights and delaying their court case seeking justice.

Teachers from across Assam will gather in Guwahati to take part in the sit-in protest. The Association also announced an Abstention Strike on November 25 and a Statewide Teachers’ March in early December, warning that any academic disruption will be the government’s responsibility.
