Assam to Establish 70 New ITIs, Boost Skill Development
The Assam government plans to set up 70 new ITIs in underserved constituencies, announced Skill Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah at the Industry Meet 2024 in Guwahati. The initiative aims to expand ITIs to every constituency and eventually to each block, enhancing the state’s skill education landscape.
Mallabaruah urged industries to collaborate by adopting ITIs, designing courses, and fostering a skilled workforce. The event, attended by over 150 industries, resulted in MoUs with organizations like TATA Technologies, Honda CSR, and ABB to modernize ITIs and create employment opportunities. Assam aims to become a skill development hub and a gateway to Southeast Asia.
