Assam to Get Three New Amrit Bharat Trains, New Rail Links Planned

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that Assam will receive three new Amrit Bharat trains after a meeting with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi. The trains aim to improve long-distance connectivity and passenger convenience.
Key rail projects discussed include a new Umrangso–Lanka link to benefit central Assam and faster construction of the Kokrajhar–Gelephu line connecting Bhutan, expected to boost trade and tourism. More train stoppages across Assam will also be introduced to ease travel.
