Assam to Reduce Power Tariff from April 1

The Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission (AERC) has announced a reduction in power tariffs across all categories, effective April 1. Energy charges for Jeevan Dhara, Domestic A & B, and high-tension domestic consumers will drop by Re 1 per kWh, while other categories will see a reduction of Rs 0.25 per kWh.

No changes have been made to fixed charges. The decision follows a review of tariff petitions and a public hearing. The approved generation tariff for 2025-26 is Rs 5.96 per kWh, with transmission tariff set at Rs 0.42 per kWh. The green energy tariff will be Re 1 per kWh.
