Assam to Regulate Coaching Institutes with New Bill

The Assam Coaching Institutes (Control and Regulation) Bill, 2025 bans enrollment of students below 16 years or before secondary exams. Coaching during school hours is prohibited. Misleading advertisements promising ranks or marks are not allowed. Institutes must register with the District Commissioner, submit detailed information, and obtain security clearance. Registration is valid for two years. Counsellors and psychologists must be appointed for student mental health support. Violations face a ₹1 lakh fine; repeat offences lead to registration cancellation. A district authority will monitor compliance.
