Assam to Release White Paper on Demographic Changes by April

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that a white paper on recent demographic changes in the state will be published by April next year. The document will analyze shifts at the circle and polling booth levels, covering 23,000 of Assam’s 28,000 polling booths. Sarma emphasized the importance of this report in raising public awareness and fostering discussions on the evolving demographic landscape. He assured that the state aims to maintain communal harmony and prevent migration between villages. The paper will also highlight specific demographic changes, such as the disappearance of the Kachari population from Kachari Gaon in Dhing.
