Assam Transport Department Cracks Down on School Bus Safety Violations in Guwahati

On Saturday morning, the Assam Transport Department conducted an inspection of school buses in Guwahati near Janata Bhawan to ensure compliance with safety regulations. Officials checked for safety features such as CCTV cameras, first aid boxes, speed limiters, and fire extinguishers, and verified the presence of female staff to care for the children.

During the drive, a large number of vehicles were inspected, resulting in 10 buses being impounded and actions taken against 50 buses for various violations. The District Transport Officer issued a stern warning to schools and school bus operators to strictly adhere to safety precautions, emphasizing that student safety cannot be compromised.
