Assam Witnesses Surge in Voter Enrollment: Over 7.2 Lakh New Registrations and 7.3 Lakh Deletions

In a noteworthy development, Assam’s electoral roll has seen a substantial increase with the addition of 7,26,783 new voters. Official reports highlight that a significant portion, around 4.5 lakh, falls within the crucial 18-29 age group. Simultaneously, the electoral roll saw the removal of 7,27,291 names, primarily due to reasons such as deaths. Assam’s Chief Electoral Officer, Anurag Goel, revealed that the total electorate in the state now stands at 2,43,01,960, with a breakdown of 1,21,79,538 male and 1,21,22,602 female voters. Goel emphasized that those missing from the rolls could still apply through Form 6, available online and offline. The final electoral roll provides insights into constituency-wise numbers, with Amri Assembly having the lowest at 96,542 electors and Dalgaon leading with 2,97,846. Additionally, the Diphu Parliamentary Constituency has the lowest count at 8,92,789, while the Dhubri Lok Sabha seat claims the highest with 26,43,403 electors.
