Assam Woman Reclaims Land After Prompt Action by CM Sarma; Probe Unveils Foul Play
In a significant development, a woman who raised an alleged land grab complaint during Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s recent visit to Silchar has successfully regained possession of her plot of land from those involved in foul play.
Expressing gratitude to CM Sarma, Cachar SP Numal Mahatta, and the media for their swift response, the woman thanked them for their support. The incident unfolded on March 1 when the woman approached CM Sarma at SMCH to draw attention to the wrongful sale of her 2 katha plot of land, purchased in 2018, to another individual by unscrupulous actors.
In response to the Chief Minister’s instructions, Cachar SP Numal Mahatta and the police team, along with officials from the Settlement Office in Kanakpur, promptly investigated the matter. The police stated that the investigation revealed additional dimensions to the issue, and strict action will be taken against those found guilty in the land dispute.
