Assam Youth Dies in Bengaluru Factory Accident, Renewing Concerns Over Migrant Worker Safety

A 25-year-old Assamese youth, Zubin Nath from Barpathar in Bijni, allegedly died in an industrial accident at a tile manufacturing unit in Bengaluru on Friday. He was reportedly caught in a tile-making machine at SLV Granites on Magadi Main Road and was declared dead on the spot.

The incident comes amid Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s repeated concern over the rising deaths of Assamese youths working outside the State. He recently stated that around 50 young migrants from Assam reportedly die every month due to unsafe working conditions.

The Assam government has introduced the Shraddhanjali scheme to assist families in bringing back mortal remains of migrants who die outside the State. It is yet to be confirmed whether the scheme will be used in Nath’s case.
