Assam’s Unemployment Rate Drops to 6.1%, Highlights CM Sarma

Assam’s unemployment rate has decreased from 8% to 6.1% in 2023-24, as announced by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during the 2024 Assam Tribune Dialogue. He credited this achievement as a rare feat among Indian states. Assam has also become the fifth fastest-growing state, with a 30.9% GSDP growth and a 12.84% increase in per capita income. The Chief Minister highlighted significant investments, including Tata’s Rs 27,000 crore semiconductor plant in Jagiroad, expected to create 27,000 jobs, and a Reliance Industries bio-refinery in Assam.
