Assam Congress Issues Show Cause Notices to Five Leaders for Anti-Party Activities
The Assam Congress’ Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) has issued show cause notices to five senior leaders, including three sitting MLAs, for alleged anti-party activities during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The leaders, including Abdur Rashid Mondol, Rekibuddin Ahmed, Bharat Chandra Narah, Mira Barthakur, and Samsuddin Barlaskar, have seven days to respond. Accusations involve public statements and social media misuse, damaging the party’s image. The DAC, led by Nripendra Thakuria, conducted thorough consultations and reviewed 56 complaints before making its decision. The committee’s actions were supported by AICC General Secretary Jitendra Singh and APCC President Bhupen Kumar Borah. The DAC also recommended reinstating former minister Nilomoni Sen Deka, pending final approval.
