ATSU Moves Gauhati High Court Alleging Corruption in Tiwa Autonomous Council

The All Tiwa Students’ Union (ATSU) has approached the Gauhati High Court seeking a judicial probe into alleged large-scale corruption in the Tiwa Autonomous Council. ATSU said its allegations are based on information obtained through the RTI Act and claimed that despite complaints to multiple authorities, no action has been taken.
ATSU also opposed the extension of the Council’s tenure without elections and demanded that polls be held at the earliest, warning of protests otherwise. Additionally, the union expressed concern over the proposed Jagiroad township project, alleging it could threaten the demographic and cultural identity of the Tiwa community.
