Bandh Disrupts Life in Hailakandi Over Demand for Direct Train to Guwahati
A 12-hour bandh in Hailakandi, called by NASS and backed by 22 groups, disrupted normal life on Tuesday. The protest demanded a direct train from Bairabi (Mizoram) to Guwahati via Hailakandi. Shops remained shut and roads were mostly empty. Six picketers were arrested for blocking traffic. NASS leaders warned of intensified protests if demands are not met.
