Bangladesh-Based Jihadi Groups’ Plots Foiled in Assam, Vigil Remains High

Security agencies have foiled attempts by Bangladesh-based jihadi groups to establish bases in Assam, following the arrest of 11 members of IMK, an offshoot of JMB. Officials said the group aimed to recruit and train cadres as part of the “Ghazwatul Hind” agenda, but timely action prevented their plans. Authorities noted that similar attempts by outfits like HUM, JMB and Ansar Bangla Team were thwarted in the past. While vigilance remains high due to ongoing threats, sources said the situation in Bangladesh may improve after elections on February 12 and the formation of an elected government.
