Bangladesh Supreme Court Reduces Government Job Quotas Amid Deadly Protests

The Bangladesh Supreme Court has reduced government job quotas from 30% to 5% for relatives of 1971 war veterans. The decision follows deadly protests by university students against the quota system, which they called discriminatory. The internet has been suspended, and curfews with shoot-on-sight orders have been imposed. Public holidays were declared, closing government and private offices amid the unrest.
