Bhupen Hazarika’s 100th Birth Anniversary Celebrated Across Assam

Guwahati: Assam today marked the 100th birth anniversary of legendary singer, composer and filmmaker Dr Bhupen Hazarika, with people gathering at Bhupen Hazarika Samannay Tirtha to pay tribute to the cultural icon.

Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi were among those who paid homage. Year-long celebrations have also been launched to commemorate Hazarika’s enduring contribution to Indian music, cinema and culture.
