BJP-Congress Clash Intensifies as Police Visit Pawan Khera’s Residence

With campaigning nearing its end in the Assam Assembly elections, tensions between BJP and Congress escalated sharply. Police teams reached Congress leader Pawan Khera’s residence in New Delhi following an FIR filed by Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma.

Khera was not present during the visit, with police waiting outside. The FIR was filed after Khera alleged that Riniki possessed multiple foreign passports and overseas assets.

Responding to the development, the Chief Minister claimed Khera had “fled” Delhi and said the allegations were proven false, citing responses from foreign authorities denying such claims.

Riniki Bhuyan Sarma denied the accusations and demanded strict legal action, calling the claims baseless. The controversy has intensified the political battle, adding a legal edge to the ongoing election campaign.
