BJP Leads in Panchayat Election Vote Counting Amid Disruption in Silchar

Vote counting for the Panchayat election began slowly due to heavy rain, with BJP leading in most Zila Parishad (ZPC) and AP seats. Out of 25 ZPC seats, BJP won 2 unopposed and led in 18 of the remaining 23. At Silchar’s ISBT counting centre, a violent clash between rival groups disrupted the count, leaving a constable and a supporter injured. Police intervened and arrested four individuals. Security was heightened at the centre after the incident. Minister Kaushik Rai expressed confidence in a BJP victory.
