BJP Seeks Clarification from Gaurav Gogoi Over Alleged ISI Links

The BJP has demanded an explanation from Jorhat Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi over alleged links between his wife, Elizabeth Coleburn, and Pakistan’s ISI. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma also questioned Gogoi’s 2015 meeting with Pakistan’s then-High Commissioner, Abdul Basit.

Gogoi dismissed the allegations as political vendetta, accusing the BJP of compromising national security for business interests. The controversy, linked to past claims about Coleburn’s work in Islamabad, has intensified political tensions ahead of the 2026 Assam Assembly polls.
