Bodo Groups Renew Demand for Full Implementation of Peace Accord
Several Bodo organisations, including UBPO, United Bodo People’s Forum, and ABSU, have urged speedy implementation of the Bodo Peace Accord. Key demands include forming constituencies and holding elections for the Bodo-Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council, granting ST (Hills) status to Bodo-Kacharis in Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao, a special development package, recruitment drives for Bodo teachers, and creating a Bodo Regiment in the Army. Over 10,000 people joined a “Mass Crying Rally” in Simen Chapori, warning of intensified agitation if demands are delayed.
