Body Found Buried in Kitchen: Assam Couple Confesses to Murder

Police exhumed the semi-decomposed body of Monowar Hussain from a kitchen in South Salmara Mankachar district after accused Atowar Rahman and his wife, Rashida Khatun, confessed to the crime. The duo, who had been on the run across multiple states, was arrested in Hyderabad on March 3 and brought back to Assam.

The case surfaced on January 13 when the victim’s father filed an FIR. Investigators tracked the accused using call records and forensic tools. Several accomplices who helped them evade arrest were also detained. The remains were sent for post-mortem, and further forensic tests are underway as police finalize the investigation.
