Body of Avinash Sarkar Found and Identified in Guwahati

The parents of Avinash Sarkar confirmed their son’s identity this morning at Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) after his body was recovered. Avinash was swept away by floodwaters from a roadside drain in Bamunimaidam last Friday. Rescue teams found the body of a minor in Guwahati’s Rajgarh locality earlier today, and it was transported to GMCH for identification, where Avinash’s parents confirmed it was him.

Rescue teams had launched an intensive search operation early this morning to find the missing child. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had visited the Sarkar family on Saturday to express his concern and monitor the ongoing search efforts, assuring them of the extensive efforts being made to locate their child.
