Brahmaputra Erosion Intensifies in Nagaon, Emergency Measures Launched

Severe erosion by the Brahmaputra River has intensified at Hatimura under Kaliabor in Nagaon following heavy rainfall and rising water levels.

District Commissioner Devasish Sharma visited the affected area on Thursday and directed officials to begin anti-erosion work on a war footing to ensure public safety.

Following the inspection, the Water Resources Department started temporary protection measures in the erosion-hit areas. Officials also reviewed flood preparedness in Raha Revenue Circle, including relief camp management, early warning systems and restoration work in areas damaged during the 2022 floods.
