AASU Protests Across Assam Over Rising Prices of Fuel and Essential Commodities

The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) on Friday staged protests across Assam against the rising prices of fuel and essential commodities. Demonstrations were held in Guwahati, Nalbari, Jorhat, Tamulpur and other districts.

AASU leaders criticised both the State and Central governments for failing to control inflation. Protesters carried placards and raised slogans demanding immediate steps to reduce prices and provide relief to the public.

AASU president Utpal Sarma questioned the government’s spending during elections while asking people to cut expenses. General secretary Samiran Phukan said the continuous price rise has badly affected common people and warned that protests would intensify if the situation does not improve.
