CBSE Plans Thorough Assessment of Open Book Examination (OBE) Feasibility

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced its intention to conduct a comprehensive assessment to determine the feasibility of reintroducing the Open Book Examination (OBE) in the Indian education system. Contrary to media reports suggesting an immediate trial, the CBSE clarified that it aims to study the viability of OBE based on recommendations from the National Curriculum Framework for Secondary Education (NCF-SE) and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The Board emphasized the need for experimentation and examination of the OBE’s suitability in select CBSE schools before any potential implementation. The move aligns with the NEP 2020’s emphasis on exploring various assessment methods to enhance students’ learning experiences.
