CEA Flags Subansiri Project as ‘Vulnerable’, Orders Early Warning System

The Central Electricity Authority has labelled the 2,000 MW Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project as “vulnerable” and directed NHPC to install an Early Warning System. Other sensitive projects include Rangit, Panyor Lower, Kameng, Chuzachen, Tashiding, Rongnichu, Dikchu, and Teesta III. India has 209 commissioned hydro projects, with 2,027 MW in the Northeast. Union power secretary Pankaj Agarwal praised SLHEP’s progress, including lowering a record 673 MT generator rotor for Unit 4, moving towards early commissioning of four units.
