Chirang Knife Attack Sparks Protest, Santals Demand Swift Arrests

Hundreds from the Santal community protested outside Garubhasha Police Station on Monday, demanding the immediate arrest of attackers who stabbed a 24-year-old Adivasi youth. The victim, Simon Kisku, was allegedly attacked by two motorcycle-borne assailants on Sunday evening in the Garubhasha area.

Police said Kisku sustained chest and abdominal injuries but is out of danger after being referred from Kajalgaon JSB Civil Hospital to Barpeta Medical College. Dhruv Bora said investigations are underway and efforts to trace the culprits have been intensified.

Local MLA Nirmal Kumar Brahma and MP Joyanta Basumatary condemned the attack, while Adivasi student bodies warned of intensified protests if arrests are not made within 24 hours.
