Citizens Oppose Extension of Maharaj Prithu Flyover in Guwahati

Concerned citizens in Guwahati opposed the Assam government’s plan to extend the Maharaj Prithu flyover up to the Kamrup District Library, warning it would harm Dighalipukhuri’s heritage and ecology. They accused the government of violating its earlier court assurance that no trees or greenery would be affected. Several trees have already been uprooted, and the group demanded the project’s immediate withdrawal to protect the area’s environment and cultural value.
