CNCI Renews Demand for Chakma Language Recognition in Mizoram

The Chakma National Council of India (CNCI) has again urged Mizoram’s government to officially recognize the Chakma language. Following a conference in Kamalanagar, CNCI criticized the mislabeling of Chakmas as Bengalis and pledged to fight for linguistic and cultural rights. The council also backed nationwide protests for Buddhist control of the Mahabodhi Temple, seeking repeal of the Bodhgaya Temple Act, 1949.
