Congress–AJP Seat-Sharing Near Completion, Raijor Dal Talks Ongoing: CM Sarma

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said the Congress–Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) seat-sharing arrangement is almost final, though talks with Raijor Dal remain unresolved. He indicated that seats like Binnakandi, Khowang, Barhampur and Sadiya may go to AJP, with two seats for CPI(M) and one for CPI(ML).
Raijor Dal chief Akhil Gogoi denied reports of a split with Congress, admitting differences over a few constituencies but asserting that talks are continuing. He accused Congress of backtracking on promised seats but maintained that the alliance would stay intact. Congress leaders also dismissed speculation of a rift, saying the seat-sharing list would be announced soon as deliberations continue in Delhi.
