Congress Files FIR Against CM Sarma Over ‘Hate Speech’

An FIR has been filed against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for alleged hate speech during a Jan Ashirwad rally earlier this week in Madhya Pradesh’s Vaishali district. The FIR was filed in Sivasagar on the complaint of Assam’s Opposition Leader and Senior Congress Leader Debabrata Saikia at the Nazira Police Station.

According to the FIR, the Congress leader stated that Sarma suggested in his September 19 speech that 10, Janpath (Sonia Gandhi’s residence in Delhi) be burned.
