Congress Leader Rana Goswami Resigns, Fuels Speculation of BJP Switch

Senior Congress leader Rana Goswami has unexpectedly resigned from the party, citing political reasons, leading to widespread speculation that he may be contemplating joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Goswami, who held a significant position as the organisational in-charge of Upper Assam within the Congress party, encompassing districts like Dhemaji, North Lakhimpur, Sonitpur, and Biswanath Chariali, stepped down due to various political considerations.

Goswami submitted his resignation to Assam Congress In-Charge Jitendra Singh and State Congress President Bhupen Bora. Responding to rumors of his potential defection in Jorhat, Goswami clarified that he has not left the party and has not considered such a move. He expressed his commitment to the Congress party and highlighted ongoing discussions between the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the BJP, both vying for his allegiance. Goswami views the political attention on his decision as a reflection of his influence and standing in the political landscape, signaling a dynamic shift in the region’s political scenario.
