Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi Criticizes BJP’s Communal Politics

During a press conference, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi accused the BJP of resorting to communal politics due to their inability to accept the moral loss in the 2024 Lok Sabha election. He criticized the BJP for politicizing communities in Assam and referenced an order in Uttar Pradesh requiring shop owners to display their names during Kanwar Yatra. Gogoi’s remarks followed Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s claim that the state’s Muslim population is growing rapidly and could become the majority by 2051. Sarma suggested that Rahul Gandhi should address the Muslim population in Assam, as they reportedly listen to him more than to Sarma.
