Congress Names 40 Star Campaigners for Nagaon Bypoll

Guwahati: The Congress has named 40 leaders as star campaigners for the Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election scheduled for October 6. The list, submitted to the Election Commission by party general secretary K C Venugopal on September 16, includes Bhupesh Baghel, Gaurav Gogoi, Wazed Ali Choudhury, Rakibul Hussain, Pawan Khera, Supriya Shrinate and Kanhaiya Kumar.

The list also features several Assam leaders, including Debabrata Saikia, Ripun Bora, Paban Singh Ghatowar, Satyabrata Kalita, Nandita Das and Mira Barthakur Goswami. The bypoll was necessitated by Pradyut Bordoloi’s resignation from the Lok Sabha. Polling will be held on October 6, with counting scheduled for October 9.
