Congress Protests Alleged Jal Jeevan Mission Corruption in Lumding

The Indian National Congress staged a major protest in Lumding, alleging large-scale corruption and failure in the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission. Protesters claimed that despite crores spent, households still receive no tap water, with projects left incomplete or non-functional.
Congress leaders accused the state government and minister Jayanta Malla Baruah of misusing funds and demanded a thorough probe and his resignation. The agitation, part of a statewide campaign led by APCC president Gaurav Gogoi, warned of intensified protests if an impartial inquiry is not ordered.
