Congress to Launch Assam Movement to Protect Land and People’s Rights: Gaurav Gogoi

Assam Congress chief Gaurav Gogoi announced a statewide movement to defend land and citizens’ rights, accusing CM Himanta Biswa Sarma’s government of corruption and land grabs. Defending Rahul Gandhi’s remark that Sarma should be jailed, Gogoi said it reflects public frustration over alleged exploitation by the CM and his family. He criticized environmental damage in Kaziranga and Karbi Anglong and raised concerns about irregularities in projects like Garukhuti. Meanwhile, senior leader Ripun Bora blamed the BJP for evictions since 2016, claiming land is being handed over to corporate giants at the cost of indigenous communities.
