Congress to Release Assam Poll Manifesto Today

Mallikarjun Kharge will release the Congress manifesto today (March 29) for the April 9 Assam Assembly elections, announced Jitendra Singh.

The manifesto, prepared after months of public outreach across Assam, will be unveiled in Lakhimpur, where Kharge is also scheduled to address an election rally.

Singh criticized the BJP-led government, alleging a climate of fear and suppression of dissent, including action against social media criticism and pressure on the media. He also targeted Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, claiming internal divisions within the BJP and alleging that senior leaders like Sarbananda Sonowal have been sidelined.

Expressing confidence, Singh said the Congress-led Opposition is set to form the next government in Assam. The state will vote on April 9, with results to be declared on May 4.
