Corruption Sting Operation: Assam Junior Assistant and Middleman Nabbed in Pension File Bribery Scandal

In response to a complaint lodged with the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam, alleging bribery, a coordinated operation was conducted on Thursday. Mamtaz Begum, a Junior Assistant in the Directorate of Pension, Guwahati, was apprehended red-handed, accepting Rs. 10,000 of the demanded Rs. 20,000 bribe for processing a pension file. The operation also led to the arrest of the middleman, Hanif Ahmed, a retired school teacher involved in the conspiracy. The tainted bribe money was recovered, and both individuals are now facing legal proceedings under relevant sections of the law. The case underscores efforts to combat corruption within the public service.
