Guwahati Municipal Corporation Bans Narcotic and Intoxicating Substance Ads, Sets Strict Removal Deadline

In a recent notice issued on Friday, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) declared an immediate ban on the display of advertisements featuring narcotic or intoxicating substances within its jurisdiction. All advertising agencies and firms operating under the GMC were directed to cease showcasing ads related to pan masalas, gutkha, tobacco, alcohol, and any other intoxicating substances.

Furthermore, the GMC mandated that these agencies remove such advertisements within three days. The notice warned of stringent measures, including the dismantling of advertisement structures, if they failed to comply within the specified timeframe. The move reflects the municipality’s commitment to curbing the promotion of potentially harmful substances within its area of influence.
