Crackdown on Illegal Coal Mining Forces Workers to Leave Ledo

Over 200 coal mine workers vacated Ledo in Assam’s Margherita sub-division after intensified action against illegal mining. Workers, primarily from districts like Goalpara and Dhubri, left for their hometowns following a directive from Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to shut illegal rat-hole mines. Authorities recently destroyed 13 such mines in Namdang, seizing equipment in the process.
